The Center

The Centre Henri Pousseur - Musique électronique / Musique mixte (formerly Centre de recherches et de formation musicales de Wallonie) was founded in Liège in 1970 by Henri Pousseur and Pierre Bartholomée. The center's name was changed in 2010.

Pascal Decroupet is its director from 1996 to 2001, followed by Marie-Isabelle Collart and Claude Ledoux. Between November 2005 and January 2010, artistic direction is held by Arne Deforce, and since February 2010, by Stephane Ginsburgh, both in collaboration with Marie-Isabelle Collart.

The Center is specialized in premiereing electronic music and live electronics pieces, a tradition in its activities. It welcomes projects by artists from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles but also works with other Belgian communities and foreign countries. It also seeks to promote the composers and their works with the help of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.

The Center organizes a yearly festival, Images Sonores. Its goal is to serve as a showcase for the works composed with the center's support.
